I was really excited about getting the Torpedo. As I have been trying to diet, I thought juicing might be a great option. I went to the grocery store and stocked up on all the veggies, fruits, yogurts, etc so I could whip up some healthy drinks.I started with a berry smoothie recipe that was included in the Torpedo recipe/manual. It worked wonderfully! I made enough for four people and it was quick and easy. The next day, my daughter wanted to make a shake. We put in the ingredients and the Torpedo did not work. I remembered reading in the manual not to panic in such a case because there is a reset button on the bottom of the unit. I pushed the button and we were good to go. Another quick snack! Day three, I was going to make some juice. I put the ingredients inside, plugged the Torpedo in and...nothing. It didn't work, again. I pushed the reset button. Still, nothing happened. I unplugged it and tried another outlet, pushed the reset button, repeatedly... When I say in the vid that the juicing doesn't work it would be more accurate to say the juicing sorta works. Sorta in that you do get juice, if you pulse the blender a few times and then run it, and you still won't get as much juice as the recipe states. I've been using this a few weeks now and I'm very satisfied with the blending power for greens smoothies which I drink every day. Everything else that I've tried with it fails or doesn't do a good job. Uneven chop if you try to use it as a food processor, won't shave ice without putting a significant amount of water in (missing the point of shaved ice of course), juicing sucks in terms of how much you get vs. waste. Basically it's a really overpriced blender with a lot of cheap pastic. I started with a simple protein shake - almond milk and protein powder - and that went fine. I added banana to the mix the next day, and that went fine.Then I added a frozen banana and ice. This thing doesn't blend. It mashes. And that kind of sucks for something that should, y'know, blend. The next day, it wouldn't turn on. I hit the reset button and it was fine for anything not frozen. The next day it wouldn't turn on, period. 1 star for performance and reliability. Tossed it. Not worth the frustration. |
