Blendtec WildSide HP3A Blender - 3 Qt (96 oz) Container & 4

Product Description

The Blendtec Total Blender has automatic blending cycles for ice cream, frozen yogurt, ice crushing, milkshakes, soups, syrups, fondues, sauces, dips, dressings, batters, whole juice, and smoothies. These cycles have variable speed settings that will change during the course of the cycle. This allows the blender to draw the contents into the blending vortex, which creates the desired texture. The blender will run its pre-programmed cycle and automatically shut off. If at any point you want to stop the blender before it has completed its cycle press any lower row button. The Total Blender recipe book is designed for an overall average in terms of ice temperature and the amount of liquid typically contained in various fruits and vegetables. Your experience may be different depending on local conditions and you may need to adjust certain recipes to have more or less ice, and higher or lower portions of fruits and vegetables or other ingredients. For example, if a drink is too thick to blend adequately, try reducing the ice a little and replacing the ice with a little water or other liquid. You will be amazed at the difference in blendability. Whatever your experience with ingredients, the Total Blender will blend things faster and more easily than other blenders because of its unique combination of high speed motor, patented square jar, single prong wingtip blade, direct drive coupling, and computer controlled blend cycles. In the world of professional blending, there are many factors which go into making a delicious and consistent blended product. It is from that world of professional results that the Total Blender derives its heritage. In order to blend many different things consistently well, Blendtec developed blend cycles to match the blending needs of the type of product being made. Blendtec HP3A Total Blender Features Digital Touch pad buttons for blender operation Up to 25 pre-programmed settings plus 4 custom settings.

My husband and I started juicing and making smoothies several months ago. Once we realized that using our blender would stay a daily part of our routine, we figured it was time for an upgrade. We did ALOT of research, trying to decide between a Vitamix and a Blendtec. First, let me say that in my opinion, you could buy either brand and end up a with a great blender. There was nothing about the Vitamix that made us think it would be a bad choice; we did find things that we thought wouldn't be the right fit for us. Here's why we chose the Blendtec over the Vitamix:

1) No need for a plunger with the Blendtec. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I hated the thought of having to stand over my blender and plunge the food down. To be fair though, I think with the more expensive versions, a plunger may not be needed.
2) The 96 oz. container and 4" 2 prong blade on the Blendtec. I figured this would be easier to clean than the Vitamix.
3) The Blendtec is shorter and will fit... Read more

I've repeatedly tried to dramatically increase my consumption of raw fruits and greens with little success. It is extremely difficult to chew large quantities of produce. Blended food is the answer. I have prepared all manner of concoctions using the Blentec WildSide blender which are delicious and nutritious. The Blendtec works as advertised. It is loud, but tolerably so. My drinks, smoothies and sauces are blended to smooth perfection in a remarkably short period of time. I definitely recommend getting the 96 oz container. I prepare food for one, or sometimes two, and find this larger size to be perfect. The container is also very easy to clean. I debated whether to buy the Blendtec or the Vitamix; after researching, I decided on the Blentec and am very pleased with my decision. The product is expensive, but it works very, very well. I use it several times a day. Think of it this way: instead of cooking your food on a stove or in an oven, you are processing the food in a... Read more

I wanted a heavy-duty blender to make vegetable and fruit juices, and this baby fit the bill. Yes, it is terribly loud, I turn it on and go into another room so I don't have to hear the blender doing it's thing. But it really works, it liquifies everything that's in the container (as long as you have some liquid to get it started), and it's super easy to clean. I've been using it daily and feeling good about the impact it's having on my health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know about margaritas, but this is a great slush maker!, February 13, 2010

This review is from: Margaritaville DM900 Battery-Powered Frozen-Concoction Maker (Kitchen)
I bought this machine to make non-alcoholic versions of daiquiris and margaritias and discovred that this is one heck of a slush maker as well! The consistency of the drinks that this machine makes is like a frozen coke consistency and the machine works very quickly and easily. The machine is also very easy to clean after use. I am able to get three full batches of drinks from one batch of ice from my refrigerator's automatic ice maker. The automatic feature shaves ice and blends perfectly. This is the third "smoothie" type machine that I have had and the only one that works like it is supposed to. The battery charges well and so far I have made 15 batches of drinks without a recharge.

This will definitely be nice on hot summer nights on the deck!

This machine far exceeded my highest expectation. A few months ago I was given the plug-powered version as a gift and was blown away by its quality. Then I found out that Margaritaville made this battery-powered version! I knew I just had to have it for my pontoon boat and travel... it did not disappoint. It had just as much ice crushing power as the other and I couldn't be happier. I just wish I had it at the beginning of summer! A must have for any "tiki bar" enthusiast like myself. I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love my Vita-Mix!, August 9, 2009

I have had my platinum Vita-Mix 1363 CIA (Culinary Institute of America) model blender for just over a month. So far, I am loving it! I have definitely increased my consumption of fruits and vegetables since getting it. I start most mornings off with a smoothie now. I throw in whatever fruit is in season (I love berries, but I've used peaches, nectarines, plums, grapes, apples, bananas and various frozen fruits), a scoop or two of protein powder, milk or water, a couple handfuls of fresh spinach, a couple handfuls of ice and sweetener if needed. Surprisingly, the spinach doesn't noticeably change the flavor, but it does boost the nutritional content of the smoothie. In less than 10 minutes I can have my smoothie made, poured into a "to go" cup and have the machine all clean (just add warm water and a couple drops of dish soap- turn it on for 30 seconds, then empty and rinse the container). The smoothies always turn out 100% smooth- berry seeds, apple seeds, ice and other hard... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every dime, March 1, 2008

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
Why, you say, should I spend this insane amount of money for a blender? My answer: Because it's worth it. There is simply no comparison to other blenders. The Vitamix is the best. It really does crush ice effectively, make ice cream in seconds from frozen fruit and cream, and produces drinks and sauces that are utterly smooth, plus soups to die for. I make my own hummus and used it for baby food regularly, guests love it for silky frozen drinks, and it lasts--with zero problems. It's a quality device. Advertising is geared to health food because you can make drinks or soups from fresh produce and take advantage of the natural fiber that juicers take out, and they're right, but that's not why I bought it. I bought it because I hate the odd chunky bits of fruit in my smoothies, I hate taking blenders apart for cleaning and I wanted something I could depend on to do what I wanted each and every time. I've not been disappointed.

Update 3/18/10

5.0 out of 5 stars How often do you fall in love with a household appliance?, January 11, 2010
I ordered Vitamix 5200, but was upgraded by kitchenuniverse because they were out of it. It's the same machine except for an upgraded book and different color base.

things I can now do (or not do)with my Vitamix:
1. dont have to section oranges or lemons. healthier this way too. (just peel and remove seeds)
2. don't have to peel garlic (healthier? maybe. definitely more whole)
3. don't have to chop carrots (still a good idea to quarter apples)
4. sell my ice cream machine, and juicer
5. make smoothies while baby is asleep in the next room(can go as fast as variable 5 w/out much noise at all, it can still crush ice effortlessly at this speed). Even at the highest speed, it's as noisy as a regular vacuum, and I usually don't need to go full speed for very long anyway. The only time you need to go long (5-7 minutes) is for heating up soup, but why? adding hot water before blending is a greener alternative.
6. make as little as a cup of smoothie at... Read more
